I love the bike to ride just really sad about all the reliability issues I have experienced that mean I really can't keep it. As an update dealer confirmed a bolt that holds a spring in clutch area fell out and went into the clutch causing a lot of damage. Just lucky I was only doing 30 mph. Still no word on how much they need to replace/timings for repair and my preferred refund/get a Honda Africa twin as a workhorse bike way to resolve.

Dealer has been great and is helping me with Ducati - but still looks like I'm going to be getting the train to work for at least another week!

I'm Italian and I own a DVT Standard from last January. So far 4000km. I've got the fuel sensor replaced by Ducati.
My problems:
1) Halogen high beam light is not bright enough due to a physical limitation of the bike which has very small projectors. I complained a lot with the Ducati Customer Service about this issue and asked for a fix since light from me means SAFETY.
2) Mirrors are vibrating, visibility is difficult and horrible sound comes from the mirror above 3000rpm. I asked for a replacement once but the replaced mirror does the same and Ducati refused to give me again a new one. Parking the bike under rain on the siede stand the left mirror is catching water inside that gets out when the bike is moved straight, the water falls on the leg of the pilot! SHAME!! I'm waiting for a fix.
3) Windshield holder produces noise when the road is not smooth and presents many bumps.
4) Right right black cover was not installed properly.
5) The seat is horrible from the design point of view Ducati could made it better.

Main issues for me are 1 and 2 since they impact on the safety. I wrote several mails to Ducati and I'm waiting for their feedback. If you experienced the same issues do not hesitate to call Ducati directly. We paid a lot our bikes, have all the issued fixed is our right.

700 miles broke down, Hands free unit replaced.

1670 miles check engine light came on. Took the bike to the dealer, who said it was a variable valve timing issue. Said it was a fluke, reset it and sent me on my way.
1680 miles light back on, returned to dealer which said that it was a dvt issue again but it would be ok. called me 2 days later and it goes in this week, for a supposed belt issue tension!
Love the bike and handling, so far i am not over impressed with reliability!

Main Issue for now is my dealer.

1st of all i put my motorcycle for sale on an ad in web, with all defects that it has. And then they called me saying that they are going to make a criminal complaint for defamtion! They say when i go to the first service, they did not have on the worksheet the defects registered!!!! By that dealer shows the lack of seriousness... I have changed my ad and they tell that Ducati authorize them not to repair my motorcycle !!! LoL !!! I had to ask me to replace me at work, to avoid being fired, and then immediately took the bike there, because he told me that there just taking the bike is the only way to repair the defects that I complain.

Quite the opposite! All my fault upping the lever from the 4 to 5 gear that came to neutral! All my fault of my driving style that the shift lever rubber is "destroyed"!
And if the bike does not start yesterday, but if start up today it is because the problem is solved!

Lack of humility, lack of competence, lack of seriousness...

Curious if you ever resolved this problem? i had to replace the horizontal cyl exhaust cam timing servo (warranty) and I'm enjoying it more than ever.

My engine light stayed on too, right back to Ducati. DVT system gone wrong, but supposedly everything ok.
Good because i was getting off job, not in a long trip! I did not want to imagine that i was 200Km away from a dealer.... That sucks!!!!!

Hi Desmo. How is your Spanish?. There is a solution for the point 3 in a Spanish forum that could solve your issue. (Vibración pantalla MTS 2016)

Almost 13,000 miles/20,000km since last May on my 15 S... no significant problems.
I'm now up to 22,000 miles/35,000 km on my DVT... still no significant problems.

Since last update - these 'minor' issues:
- Clutch lever has gotten a little 'squeaky' over the last 4 months... not sure if it's a problem or not, it still works fine, it almost feels like the pivot is a tiny bit sticky - weird.
- Rubber isolator for the right Pannier fell off somewhere... annoying.

2016 DVT - 3 months old with 2200Ks on the clock.

The bike is a bugger to start at times. First thing in the morning she will turn over but only fires reluctantly. The first couple of times it catches it will idle at very low revs for a couple of seconds and then shut down.
Have to turn the bike off and leave it a little bit and try again. A little bit of throttle once it catches seems to keep it running (barely) until the engine warms up a bit.
Had its first service and was reported as a problem - nothing found by the techs and nothing to indicate a potential problem from Ducati Italy

20K miles on my DVT and aside for a fairly expensive service at 18K (see my post on Desmo service), the bike has been rock solid. Most definitely more dependable than the BMWs I used to own. I used every day for commuting rain or shine.

Ditto the poor idle on start-up, even in mild weather. Very seldomly it will die during this poor idle. Once warmed up, it idles fine though not at a constant rpm. But other vehicles of mine do this too. Maybe it's the ethanol? Other than that and previously mentioned niggles fixed under warranty, the bike runs great and produces big grins inside the helmet.:grin2:

2016 DVT, 900 Km, 3 days old :D

I am yet to talk to Ducati Service about following issues from my first ride:
1. Whenever bike goes over sudden bad patch of road headlights blink (goes off for a sec). I started my ride at 5am it was pretty dark and the blink was visible. Happened twice.
2. I was mostly riding in touring mode and thrice slight breaks were applied on its own, I noticed ABS and DTC lights were on. It was clearly noticeable because I was on cruise control all the three times and I am 100% sure I did not disengage cruise control.
3. I am already getting battery low warning. Battery info is showing 4.5v

I've never tested it, but it's been reported that the cruise control will reduce speed(throttle position) based on traction/attitude - and I think that might be what you felt. Rough road could easily trigger that. I'm pretty sure I've seen CC drop speed when I was harder through a corner than it liked (subtle effect though)

The headlight thing is a wiring issue most likely... but nothing you should have to fix let you dealer fight it (wiring issues suck)... same for battery probably (loose battery terminal possibly).

Multi 1200s, 2015

2015 model, 5500km on, No major issues, runs great, fixed recalls on side stand, fuel sensor, seat.
allother things are part of maintenance and not major hickups. I am hearing now some "hisss" sound from the front side wheel or so and I Am not sure yet is sit sound of wind getting thru, or brake pads hissing or god forbid bearings in front wheel. All of this could be something or nothing I do not know but bike runs great.

Cheers,

This post is directed to all Multistrada 2015 & 2016 owners. May I please request some honest feedback?

Please be so kind as to share the following information:

A.) For those who are happy with your bikes and who are lucky enough to have not experienced major issues:
1.) Please indicate how long have you had your 2015/2016 Multi and how many Miles or Kilometres you have done?

B.) For those who experienced major mechanical or operational problems/issues with their bikes. Would you please be so kind as to share the following information:
(The problems/issues I am referring to does not include those caused by accident or negligence.)

1.) What happened?
2.) Mileage and age of bike?
3.) What was the root cause?
4.) How was the problem resolved?
5.) Are you satisfied that the problem is now completely resolved? If not, what is your concern?
6.) How long were you without the bike and did it take them to resolve the problem?
7.) Were you offered a loan bike by your dealer?
8.) Did the bike break down on you while riding or did the problem occur when you started the bike?
9.) Did the bike leave you stranded?

I have an issue with my wife's bike. It is in for major repair work and the bike is brand new. My 2015 Multi also has issues. It is not as serious as the other bike. I am however concerned about the build quality of these bikes. I have owned numerous bikes, I therefore have a realistic expectation and perfection is not what I am after. I hope and pray these things are just teething problems but I am not so sure. Common sense tells me that if a crank main bearing retaining spring clip dislodges and travels through the timing gears this cannot be good.
Another recent post I have seen, someone also mentions that the radiator hose failed and this may have caused the bike to overheat.
I cannot afford to spend months on end trying to sort problem after problem. There is also the risk of breakdown. In SA, unlike in other countries you can pay with your life if you breakdown in the wrong spot. My hope is that most of you Multi 2015/16 owners out there do not have major issues and that I can look forward to trouble free riding.

I had the 2013 model.
I had so so many problems after 30,000km and 27 warranty claims I had to give it up.
Just read all my posts. Fantastic bike to ride but just too much trouble and so expensive if I had to pay for the repairs, luckily the dealer carried on fixing it almost for free even a year out of warranty.
My advice would be stay well clear of them. A really bad experience.
But I do miss it to ride.

I have a 2010 Touring (black one) its nearly done 70,000 Ks, other than getting the front ohlins fork tube and base replaced, the throttle housing, and originally the coolant changed, all covered by warranty, the bike has been faultless, I've even thrashed it on the track. Luck of the sum of the parts i guess.
