Hi all Multistrada lovers. Few days ago I notice weird sound from right side of my Ducati engine. Any of you had a similar problem?
G'day Basti35,

Wise to ask as I have read posts about a bearing failure leading to crankshaft breaking.

I don't recall the details, but get that unusual noise checked out before the motor potentially :poop:'s itself big time.
It could just be normal wear and tear, but there have been a number of early 1200's snapping cranks.

Mmmmm, assuming the coin jingling noise is the one you are concerned about.....I am guessing since the tech didn't notice any unusual noises, it's likely all normal. Often there are more noises after valve clearance adjustment because they have been reset and may just be tapping a bit more than previously noticed.

Noisy 'tappets' are better than 'quiet' tappets since no noise means closed clearance and eventually burned valves. (I know it's Desmo, just threw in the term tappet for fun).

I could be way wrong.....long distance diagnoses are woefully unreliable.

If no one else confirms, maybe drop by the service shop and ask.

At least it does not sound like a bearing rumble so it isn't going to break a crank. The engine sounds quite tight and nice for it's age.

Engine sounds smooth. No noticeable noise you could narrow it down to. Pull the clutch lever in and see if any noise goes away.

Too late, but if you could tear open the oil filter and look for metal debris, that would point to something. Clean means you're just hearing normal engine noises.

How many miles? And when do those cranks fail when they do is at what mileage?

This bike has already 66K so maybe its never going to be the same sound like before.
I know that they check this bike pretty good with all the details and all service cost me almost $2900
but I compare different bike with the same engine and has (55K) and I don't hear the same noise
