Dovisioso's best chance at winning the title was last year. The GP-18 was clearly the better bike.
But, for '19, the Honda has been improved in every way. MM has learned to ride (more) within the limits of the day. And, AD still only rides within his comfort level. I don't know if AD could/would have won today (only seen 'highlights') but, I do know that he did not beat MM. DP winning actually helped AD's case, however slightly, as things wound up.
It's a very fine line between hero and goat, a mm either way and this could have been Iannone Argentina version 2. In the press conference it seemed DP was having second thoughts about his decision to dive under Dovi. No:
Dovi was clear of DP and MM so instead of holding MM back, DP took off after AD, messed him up and MM was then able to close in and we all know what happened next.
Happy Ducati won but not the way teams should work.
I'll bet Dovi won't be mentoring DP much more after this.
