Well I'm just about ready to move myself back to San Diego. I leave Virginia next weekend. As some of you may remember my ships homeport changed from Norfolk to San Diego after I had already accepted orders. My wife was very nice about moving back. She smiled, patted me on the head and told me, "Have a nice time with that." So attached is a pic of my new home on wheels. (At least for the next two years or so). I have to make a week stopover in Wisconsin to visit the shipyard where my ship is being built. I have a two day stopover in Sacramento to visit family then to San Dog on June 1st. For those if you who helped me in my discussion to get a trailer over a Motor home thanks I appreciate all the advice. As you can see I'm all set. Have a chock in the bed of the truck to carry my trusty 749. If you see me on the road wave and say hi.

You ought to stop in Sacto long enough for the boys to take you on a ride that features some premier roads. Moto will break out his 999R for that, I'm sure.

We are like Warrant Officers but with a broader range of responsibilities. Prior enlisted that are selected to work in our specialized fields. I'm an engineer, surface repair is my designator. Ships propulsion and support systems operation and repair are my areas. The general term is "Mustang".

Yes, Marinette Marine is building her. As for riding in Sacto, I most likely won't have time on the way down but I'll be back, most of my family lives there and I'd like to meet up with you guys.

You realize you'll be out here in time for the USGP, right? *wicked grin*

Make sure and check out the DOCSD (Desmo Owners Club of San Diego). We do some group rides and other social gatherings. Nice place to meet folks.

That´s a pretty sweet looking ship! Nice "stealthy" look to it.
Looks alot like the Swedish Navy´s "HMS VISBY"

Sweet! The USGP should be a blast. Some of us are riding up there and others are caging and trailering their bikes.

Brian,

Drop me a PM when you arrive in "San Dog". Lunch is on me. BTW, how cool is that, that you get to see your ship in construction ? While this may be common on something like a DDG, the smaller size of the LCS must make the whole thing more personal.

Bevel, You're on. I wish that I could post some pics of the construction. The whole thing is still in competition with GD for their design so I'm bound by a non-disclosure agreement. As soon as they tell me what I can and can't share I'll post some up. She is going to be a beauty.

Funny you showed the Swedish ship Visby. She and Freedom share similar systems, and in fact some of our people are going over to see some testing of them for performance verification.

Not knowing your schedule, After Marinette you're welcome to stop over for a free nights lodging and a couple beers. We can unload the bike and go for a ride. We're just west of Milwaukee along I 94.

Well, I'm here! Unfortunately with a broke bike. I blew my clutch master cyclinder riding with my brother up in Sacramento. So that's my project for the weekend, fixing the clutch.

O.F. thanks for the offer but they had me running all over the place for the full time I was there.

Bevel. We'll get together soon.

That ship is unbeleivable, you (Sweden) actually have four of them.
* HMS Visby 2000
* HMS Helsingborg 2003
* HMS Härnösand 2004
* HMS Nyköping 2005
Did you know that it is constucted entirely of Carbon fibre/CFRP? It is like a giant twin propulsion jet-ski and goes 35+ knots (40+mph) while only weighing 650 tonnes!
