Hi
Out riding my 796 motard the other day when the motor just shut down half way around a corner, engine light came on at same time but no errors came up, turned key off and back on and motor started but only run on one cylinder limped home and it shut down several more times on the way. Let the bike sit for a while and restarted it and it fired straight up on both cylinders any one else had this problem as it is getting a bit scary to ride when it does this. The bike is a 2010 model and only has 9500kms on it .
Any feed back would be greatly appreciated
Cheers.

Check both spark plugs, better change them if possible. Would start there.

More info needed.

Did dash go out or flicker when engine went out? Did it just die or did it lose power then stall? Any warning signs (studders or power loss on other rides?), did it always happen in corners... anything else?

If dash flickered or went out momentarily:
Check battery connections, if you've done any wiring customization then look to make sure you don't have a short to frame somewhere. Look for worn wires at pinch points (not likely with such low mileage).

Other things to check - fuel pump, side stand switch.

I had a similar problem on my wife's M796, check the neutral switch on the back of the engine. It got hot in construction and acted up. I think you can search neautral switch problems.

Push all the electrical connectors back together from both sides. I unplugged every one on the whole bike, sprayed them with wd40 and plugged them back in a few times. Same with the fuses. You could bypass the kick stand switch to see if that is the issue.

An electrical connector/ connection cleaner should be a little more better than WD40 although that shiaaaatt works in mysterious ways

I have several connection cleaners . WD works as well as any of them. I only used it as an example because everyone knows what it is.

Bike is shutting straight down no flickering dash lights or any strange electrical issues and the side stand switch has been bypassed
