Monster 1200R performance upgrade

I Cant seem to find much about this via the search feature here or on Google.

In addition to a full exhaust with a tuner which will obviously give the most improvement and pave the way for any other mods, what other mods are available?
I plan to drop a tooth in the front.
Is there an intake system or airbox mod to do?

I LOVE the look, the feel, the handling and the riding position. But after riding my Superduke, i feel compelled to kick it up a bit.

Dont get me wrong, I am not expecting to match my Superduke performance being that is about 25 HP less. Im just trying to close the gap a bit.

I just put an MWR air filter on mine. I’m wondering if I need to do a tune now. I only have a slip on though. But honestly you don’t need a full exhaust on these bikes. They already made the header pipe a larger diameter than the 1200s.

This topic has been covered Ad Infinitum but what the heck, I have nothing better to do right now so here goes:

#1 Short levers
#2 Annitori QuickShifter
#3 Light Carbon SC-Project exhaust requiring;
#4 Rexxer ECU flash
#5 Comfort Seat
#6+2R gearing change (TBA)

That's it for me and performance...then there's bling. Skies the limit here.

Gotta have that Ducati bling on there lol.

Do you know if you need to do a flash after installing a MWR air filter? I’m thinking maybe I need to do the rexxer flash. I can prob delete the o2 sensor while I’m at it I’m assuming.

Also, haven’t people has issues with those annitorri quick shifters not working consistently?

Annitori has been flawless. No ifs and buts. Lots of adjutability also.
If ever I had to roll back time, I would add a Rapidbike unit than a flash.
I had a RB unit on my Panigale and it was customizable. That's not to say that i'm not pleased with Rexxer (as I am) but you may have more fun with an RB.

You probably don't need a flash if it's just an OEM replacement filter. However, if you changed the exhaust also, then you definitely need it. I lost some torque when I installed the exhaust. Thus the reason for the flash. As for bling, I've purchased a few carbon pieces from Shift-Tech. A EP tail tidy, rad guards and some bar-end mirrors.

Thanks DarR. I’m currently waiting on some other parts and haven’t been able to ride the bike to test it out. Turns out Italy goes on some like 2 week or so vacation this month and guess where all my parts are coming from...

Can you tell me how the Rapid Bike improved your 959?

Thanks

It removed the surging at lower rpm in "Race Mode"
That's my complaint with my 2018 959, but in Sport mode.

It's like trying to take a hyper active puppy for a walk. Very impatient, feels like it's constantly pulling at it's collar.

Thanks

Exactly. Your analogy is perfect. The surging is just more noticeable in Race mode.
The RB unit will smooth it out.

I miss this bike.

That's a slick looking install for the RB module. If my only complaint is low speed surging during around town riding, is it worth the expense just to remedy this issue? Or, will I also see additional benefits elsewhere?

Seeing your pics just reminded me that I have to take the Lithium Ion battery out of my 959 Corse (once again) when I store it for the winter.

Apparently, keeping a LI battery on a battery tender with temps below 32*F can cause problems (like the battery potentially exploding and burning down my garage).

If I had my choice, I think would prefer a lead acid battery. The 5lb. weight savings doesn't warrant the additional hassle taking off the fairing, removing the battery, etc.

Thanks
The RapidBike is not worth it if it's just for the surging. The benefit comes should you plan to change the exhaust and add a high-flow air filter. Given that you also have a Monster, you're not likely riding the Pani in stop-n-go traffic. Moreover, that superquadro engine which loves to rev is only erratic slightly above it's 2000 rpm idle. Above 4000 rpm, it's silky smooth all the way up to 12,000.

You don't need to keep your LI battery on a tender. It will keep it's charge if there's no parasitic drain. That one of their advantage. Weight saving and no maintenance are the other. You may want to disconnect the negative terminal however.
