How many years did they make the mh900e?? I've seen listings for 01, 02, and now 2000. If they made the bike all three years the 2000 LTD Ed. is the total for all three years or each year?? Which year is the one to have?? Love the way it looks.

They're model year 2001.

The confusion lies in that they originally took orders Jan. 1st, 2000, and they were supposed to be MY2000. But it took over a year for Ducati to start building them, so they have VIN numbers indicating they are indeed 2001 models.

They only produced one run, so there shouldn't be any 2002 models, though I suppose it's possible that some of the later ones, should they have been built after December '01, could have the "2" in the VIN, but I doubt it...

Not everyone will agree with your view on the MH900e, but I do agree, it's definitely one of the most beautiful bikes in the world and definitely the most beautiful within my range.

Some of the MH900e's did indeed show up as '02 models, but, as Scott said, they were all supposed to be '00's. I'm not aware that later ones command a higher price. They are all equally liked and valued

Why don't you buy one in the US of A and ship it over to Australia? You will find a good one in the $11K - $13K range and shipping can't be more than say $2K That puts one in your garage for half what Frasers asks.

Unless, of course, there are restrictions on bringing these bikes in country, like bringing my BMW R100R Classic from The Netherlands in to the US .... ended up buying a used one here and it happens to be identical to the Dutch one. Go figure.

I dropped into the Ducati City store in Melbourne a few days ago.

They've got a beautiful looking MH900e on the floor.

It has less than 2,000 km on the clock and they're asking $28,000 AUD for it.

Why don't you buy one in the US of A and ship it over to Australia? You will find a good one in the $11K - $13K range and shipping can't be more than say $2K That puts one in your garage for half what Frasers asks.

Generally speaking, you can't import used Ducati bikes into Australia unless they have an Australian ADR compliance plate (there are exceptions but they apply to bikes over 18 years of age, or bikes of migrants who are importing under the personal import provisions).

The only way to get the ADR compliance plate is by getting a letter of compliance from the Australian Ducati distributor. However the distributor has a policy of not granting letters of compliance to imported bikes.

Australia has a lot of things going for it. But importing bikes isn't one of them!
