Sorry for the delay, people. The person that was running the contest for Vertical Scope has left the company and we've been figuring out what to do with it. Going forward, yours truly will be overseeing things. Hopefully, it'll all work out.

So, with no further ado... I give you the March 2023 Bike of the Month contest. Good luck!

Please follow all instructions posted below
  1. You must add 3 Photos; no more, no less. NO Collages. Pictures must be of the current state of your vehicle. Avoid having any people in your images.
  2. List any/all Legal Modifications to your vehicle if you have done any.*
  3. The vehicle must be yours. Vehicles waiting to be purchased may not be included
  4. Include a short description of your favorite aspect of your vehicle, or your favorite memory or ride taken with your vehicle*
  5. Votes for the month’s winner will be tallied by the number of “Likes” your post has on the last day of the month. The winner at the end of the month will win a free 1 Year Premium Membership for the forum and a custom flair under their username. If the winner is already a premium member, their subscription will be extended an additional year.
  6. Remember, please post your entries and pictures in this thread.
  7. If you have won in a previous month, you can no longer enter for the rest of the year. However, if you have a second bike that meets the above criteria, you can enter that.
* These are optional but encouraged

Winners will be featured on the site's gallery, found here: Gallery

Nudge nudge.
Good to see you've got one up for March.

I guess the high standard of last months competition has scared everyone off.
@redpato must still be waiting for the weather to turn good enough for his camera to work.
Speaking of last month,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,do we know who won yet?

Seeing as you were the only one to follow the rules, it would have been you had it been an official contest. But no Jan and Feb winners this year.
Awwwwwww.
I put a lot of effort into that shitpost.
Hopefully BOTM doesnt die from lack of interest now that it's been revived.
At the rate it's going I might have to put in a proper entry just to get the ball rolling.

2002 ST4s
I bought her 3 1/2 years ago. Love riding it but never get enough time on her, last three months with a tricep injury has made that worse.
I had no problem with 'stealing' her from the previous owner, he advertised her at $6500 with 6 months rego, I arranged a time to inspect the bike and he did nothing about charging the battery to allow a start up and decent inspection. I got a little firm in the negotiation and took her away for mid $3k.

She came with
  • 3 seats,
  • Comfort fairing and standard fairing
  • DD headlights
  • Cycle cat bar raisers ( which I have replaced with OE bars)
  • Carbon hugger
  • Carbon front fender
  • Carbon chain guards
  • Carbon fairing vents
  • 3 bags
  • There was a full set of keys
  • Top box needs some paint remedy.
To get her going I with the assistance of a good friend and life time Ducati mechanic we over 2 solid days

Replaced
  • Belts
  • Plugs
  • Oils and fuel filters
  • Fuel pump
  • Dumped the old fuel
  • Brake fluid
  • Braked pads
  • A bunch of Stainless fasteners
  • Tyres
  • Cam pulley bearings
  • Wheel bearings
  • Swing arm bearings
  • Fork seals and oil

Checked
  • Flywheel nut torque
  • Full bolt check
  • Clutch plate faces scuffed
Since replaced
  • Clutch basket
  • Mirror spring
  • Sprag clutch and gears
  • Headlight bulbs with HID
  • Foot peg rubbers
  • Rebuilt rear shock ( what a difference that made)
  • Removed some dodgy wiring
Still to sort out
  • Top box paint
  • Get rid of paint protection film
  • Repair cracked tank/ key cover
  • Repair a crack in the Off side fairing
What I like about My bike
  • It is close the the last model that was RIDER controlled, no ABS or traction control
  • It is not the most powerful bike available but it does me fine ad will go all day and I can put in 6 hours today and be happy to do it again tomorrow.
  • It is the fast colour, the colour I had hoped for when I started looking.

@Yorik To get more people back here either make anyone who was following previous months BOTM automatically following the new month or make it a reused thread so that all followers carry forward. Each month we have to find BOTM again.

Fine, but this proves 2 things.
1. Aussies are the only ones who are proud enough of their ducs to show them off.
2. Early to mid 2000s ducs are the pinacle of styling and no others can compete.

Here goes nothing.

It lurks in a dank shed.

2001 S4, DP cans and ECU.
Tail chop, ducabike slipper, ducationly clutch cover and small indicators courtesy of previous owners.
Frame plugs, 3D printed cluster facia (no cracks in lenses), radguard, ST2 rearsets, supersport rear brake master, HEL brake line to suit and dodgy exhaust brackets fitted by me.
I've got to get off my arse and put on the silicone radiator hose kit and the rear wheel adjuster plates from @Beerco (what happened to him?).
It's not the fastest, not the prettiest, but I love this thing.

@Beerco (what happened to him?).
War happened - I'm a 1st gen American of Ukrainian descent, Ukrainian was my first language I learned in the home - activist all my life, wife and step-kid from Kyiv, Lots of family and many many friends still there dodging missiles- we actually still plan on moving back once it's all over (will have to avoid land mines when riding off road :( ) etc. etc. etc.....

Last year was tough - only hit the track twice and put maybe 1k miles on the road. Getting my head back in the game though - will have a long form post about what's going on to my 1000ss in the super sport section soon!
