I guess I kinda did. 3rd gear, going uphill on my little 748 at 5k rpms. I gave it a hard throttle from there and it barely had started to pull harder when the clutch just disconnected. The revs went higher but the bike didn't go any faster. Never had that happen to me before and the bike was fine the whole ride home. Anyone think they can explain this for me?

Barring any other issues, which it sounds like you can do given the nominal performance of the clutch on the way home, I think an inspection of your friction plates is in order.
