Hi everyone,

I have Marchesini Cast Mags on my 996 and have just been informed about a serious problem with them. The circular holes on the wheel that mount onto the pins on the bike have become oval. They are getting worse and could eventually fail.

Has anyone else had this problem and is it fixable? With adapters or something?!

Don't want to have to fork out big bucks for new wheels if there is a way to salvage them.

Some people drill those elongated holes out on Aluminium wheels to a larger diameter hole and use sleeves on the 4 pins. The ID of the sleeves' are the same as the OD of the pins and the OD of the sleeves are the same as the ID of the new enlarged holes.

But as anything else, you should consult a wheel repair shop or the manufacturer of the wheels to make sure that is OK on a mag wheel or any wheel for that matter.

Yeah...that may be a way to buy some time, but if it were my ass, that wheel would become a very spendy hose reel.

If you drill into the magnesium, the material will be exposed to the elements. You will need to do something to protect the bare magneium or it will oxidize quickly.
