after leaving hwy 36 at Fortuna,I headed out along 211, the lost coast. beautiful country with next to no traffic. road is rough in many places with patch on patch pavement. even a few stretches of gravel. oncoming traffic in two hours was trhee pickups pulling stock trailers, two cars, two motorcycles. one a GS beemer the other an ST4s from Utah I think.
did a side trip out to shelter cove. nice ocean view, but is just a subdivision carved out into the hillside above the coast.
several traffic stops along the Eel river through the redwoods and thr Russian further south. all that water caused some rather large slides. still a good ride to take. total milage was about 1400 miles. just wish I had more time off to ride.

shelter cove, it was moved from Cape Mendocino about 35 or so miles up the coast after the coast guard abandoned it and it fell into disrepair.

Hey I took that same road this summer (pic1). Glad to see they still havent fixed the road.
