Yep, the cush drive is built into the sprocket on these bikes. Rubber
grommets surround the 5 bolts holding the sprocket... the sprocket
essentially "floats" in a ring of hard rubber to cushion the tranny and
other drive parts from the shock of sudden changes in rotational speed.
For instance, every time you bang a gear without matching revs, there
is a jolt to the driveline. Dirt-only bikes don't have cush drives since
breaking traction provides a torque-limiting factor for cushioning driveline
shocks, as well as the flex of the high-profile knobby tire.
