I want to reinstall the stock 15 tooth countershaft sprocket on my ST. There is no comment about the threads in my DVD service manual, so they are right hand threads, correct?

Is there any reason I can't zap off the nut with my 1/2" air impact? It seems to me it would be ok with the transmission in neutral. Does anyone here know for sure? I don't want to damage gears or bearings with impact loads if this is a no no.

Thanks

The main sprocket has normal lefty loosey threads. With the chain on and bike in neutral it's pretty easy to pop it off with a big impact tool. I usually use my right foot to hold the rear wheel.

I just swapped my front sprocket. Lefty-loosey.
I used an impact wrench, in gear, off rear-stand. Came off easily.

Thanks guys!

That's just what I did, zapped 'er off so fast the gun didn't even have a chance to rattle on the nut. Sooo much easier than struggling with a breaker bar.
