How many of you run leather pants when street riding? Just curious...

ALWAYS...I have a track suit and then I have a two piece suit for the streets which still has the same amount of knee and body armour as the track suit. I'm all about safety, I don't like pain anymore.... I also wear armour shorts that have thigh, hip and tail bone armour under my leather pants....

Always dress for the crash, not for the look... this shit happens in the blink of an eye... this is in the dirt but the plastic buckle busted on my ride pants, and the sliding dragged my pants and armour shorts off!! On concrete it would have been much worse. Get the best gear first then bling.

See less See more
I do to.
it sound like I'm getting married.
And no I'm not from the Village people
I wish I could, but if I did, it would take at least 4 or 5 cows to cover my fat ass. I can't find anyone that makes my size anyway. I ALWAYS wear good protective gear (helmet, jacket, boots, and gloves) and I wear jeans for pants. Everything else is covered. Not with leather though, all textile.

LMFAO! (the f stands for fat)
The kid in back isn't looking too happy.... Good call though.

Jeans just didn't work for me at all on a simple 20 mph lowside with my
Supermoto bike. Think about it- a 1/32" piece of cotton between you and
the asphalt. Not too protective. The Kevlar reinforced riding jeans are a
little better, which is the minimum I'd wear.

For any serious ride I'm in either the Shift Havoc leather pants or my
Alpinestars Track Pants. Road rash is no fun and lasts a long time...
I use kevlar jeans for normal street riding. Looking for a one piece leather to use when I go to the track.
I wear Vanson Supermoto pants most of the time. They're leather on most of the impact zones and nylon on the tops of the thighs. They breathe a little bit more than leather. Once in a while I'll wear my one piece Alpinestars but never jeans. I crashed at about 30 MPH in jeans back in 1994. May as well have been wearing nothing.
I wear all textile at the moment, CE armor in the jacket, full race boots. I'd prefer full leathers, but they're not really viable for me at present. That said, I am looking at getting a 2pc leather getup together, likely with a leather/textile mix pant and a similar jacket (i.e. A* Helius jacket + their leather/textile pant that zip together).

As a former club racer I've bit it enough to know that full leather is the way to go. I've never had to test my textile, but in 100 degree heat and traffic it's the best compromise I have at the moment.
Commuting to work I'll wear Joe Rocket textile pants with CE knee armor over my jeans. For day rides I just got a pair of Kevlar Draggin jeans, that I wear with Icon knee and full shin guards, and six-six-one armor shorts. Very comfy and probably the next best thing to full leather. Never would I wear just jeans.
Scottie, NICE ASS! :D LOL Alex

I can't wait to see yours in those white leathers... give me the link so I can see which ones you're getting. I hope you got vented.... And of course I want to make sure that you are not ordering from a costum shop again ;). Plus I need to plan what new nick name to give you. Hmmm maybe I'll call you Rabbit.

I'm really stoked your getting new leathers, you ride too damn fast to wear that thin costumn leather.
When ever I ride more than say 500m from home I wear full leather two piece suit riot gear complete with armour etc, only got one body and it has already suffered enough torment.

Need it to last a bit longer and I agree with Anitgrav .. don't like pain!!
On the track or on the street I wear the same leather 2 pieces Alpinestar. track boots and track gloves as well. No matter where I were the same stuff on the street or track.
Since I am riding on the track I found the street rides more dangerous than the track days. Will make sense to wear the same stuff.
Black leather, no white or village people style by the way.

+1 on the Vanson Supermoto pants...

Of course "VENTED," that was the Idea, and in mostly sun reflecting white. :p
And in defence on my black non vented "X" Man suit, its thick leather, maybe too thick & heavy! & I do not like the rabbit, maybe "silly rabbit" or "Bugs Bunny" or "Alex cottontail" or my favorite the "Rabid Dog of Death" :D LOL Alex
I always wear my Dainese leather 2-piece. Unfortunately it's non-perf so it gets might hot in the summer. I've got a custom Vanson 2-piece perf suit on order to make hot days a tad more comfortable.

I've been down twice - once with leather and once without ... I'll NEVER ride beyond the corner store in anything less than full gear.

Dress for the crash ... not the ride.
Has anyone had any experience with Motoport stuff like their air mesh kevlar 2 piece suit?
