2005 Ducati 749 Dark

Mechanically it's in great shape. It did get knocked over once in a parking lot so it has some scratches on it.

I should be picking it up Sunday or Monday

Any other 749 owners here? Anything I should know about? I know about the recall on the front break lever.

Just drove the bike home from PA. It took about 1.5 hours so I got a pretty good feel for the bike. It hadn't been ridden since last year and I think it needs a tune up. It was running pretty lean and would stall if I wasn't giving it gas and the choke wasn't up a bit. It also started getting pretty hot in stop and go (250F). My guess is a tune up will solve all of this. But since I am going to do a lot of city driving the cooling may need to be upgraded.

Overall it drove like a dream. I am quite happy

Sounds like coolant is low, flush/refill it. Easy DIY job.

It's not a choke (FI not carb), cold idle lever. You're not supposed to ride it with cold lever in non-zero position.

I wouldn't ride it w/o flushing fluids and basic maintenance if it hadn't been ridden in a year.

Getting hot in stop-and-go traffic is a fact of life! These bikes hate standing still while running on hot days. They like to inform you of this preference by toasting your butt and thighs to a medium-rare condition. Wearing leather helps, but you are best served by obeying your master and keeping her out in the twisties, or the track, where she belongs!
