James Steichel was a long time resident of Davis. Those that knew James admired his passion for motorcycling and his devotion to his yellow Ducati 748. He was an accomplished rider, a gifted wrench, and a valued friend and father. James left Davis for a solo ride sometime on April 8th 2004 and never returned. If you knew James, know of someone who rides alone, or if you ride alone yourself, join us for a memorial ride departing Davis, out to “the tree” near Pope Valley and beyond to better remember that there is always somebody who wants you to return home safely.

A group will be meeting at the Starbucks at 15th and Broadway in Sacramento at 9:30am, Sunday April 9th. We will be continuing to Davis and meeting more riders at 10:00, then heading out and meeting any others at the Corners at 11:00. Further details to be posted soon.

Hey, all:
We had a small but dedicated turn out. Thanks to all that showed. The weather really wasn't all that bad. The bikes returned filthy, but you really didn't get all that wet with just a little weather-appropriate gear.

A little information for those expressing interest:
The website for James is: http://www.james748.com/
The "authorities" speculate that he lost consciousness upon impact and never regained consciousness again.
A cause for the crash has never been identified, but close freinds who have examined the crash site, the bike, etc. suspect some outside influence (i.e. car, animal, etc.)

It may sound nagging, but if you are going to ride alone, let someone know the route you are taking and when you expect to be back, then call them when you return. It's important.
Thanks for your support.

Rob, your'e a sweetheart. When am I going to run into you again?
(P.S. I'm going to try to be a little more active on this board from now on since Scott fixed me up with "right proper access")
