Is the 1199 actually selling well?

Pretty simple question, any dealer input would be appreciated of course.

Obviously with any brand new Ducati superbike there is going to be a large number of guys who put down deposits early to ensure they are the first on their block with one.

I assume many of them chose the S or tricolor model, these were the first to be shipped. So initial demand might be tough to determine by bikes shipped/sold because so many were sold before ever being made. Sort of like a book going to #1 its first week because all the pre-orders are counted.

But now are we in the "normal" demand phase for the Panigale? Did all those hot and sweaty to get one now have it in their garage, and demand going forward is more of an indication of what the real sales rate will be?

I ask this because I have read rumblings that it hasn't met Ducati NA's expectations after the initial pop from pre-orders. I know my local dealer has had a non-S, non-ABS for several weeks that has went unsold. It was a pre-order that the owner decided he wanted and S and upgraded.

Any info?

As far as I know my dealer has sold quite a number of these. A couple issues have arisen tho which long term might hurt sales.

The 1199 was originally slated to be here in later March early April, the best time to sell bikes. As it stands they only started hitting showrooms in late May and in limited numbers. Then earthquake delayed things further. So unfortunately now that the pre-solds have been bought, were in the middle of the riding season, lots of people have bought other bikes.

That said. DNA did say May was the best month ever in sales, due largely to the 1199 and 848 SF, keeping mind that only about the last week or so were any significant number of 1199s coming in.

It took me a bit to warm up to the bike, but after it's first track day a few weeks ago (and another in two weeks) I was convinced.

It'll have it's own controversy and the purists will always lament the lack of trellis frame, but I will say out of the box the fueling on this is better than any of the seven ducs I've owned.

I like seeing these comments around. Alot of people are skeptical about this bike but here is a great example of how this bike is good where it should be and the potential it has. I am praying out loud to go to the trackday ln the 28th. With enough luck and planning i well get to meet u there.

As for the ops questions, i believe the 1199 had sold quite well. Specially considering how expensive these machines are and how there are many options available at a lower price. I know they will fix some of the issues for next year and hopefully this will help with further sales.
I think back here in Finland they sold their share of the new 1199's already. Then again, if I walked into the store with cash I doubt they would say that they sold their share and wait for the 2013... And the number they sell here is so low that it only takes couple dozen of enthusiast to sell them out.

Conclusion: I don't know shit :)
Belgium sold

150 of them.
majority S or tricolore
there were about 7 or 8 of them on Ducati track weekend early june
As of a few weeks ago there were still none on the floor at my dealer, cause they are all still sold before they arrive. They had several in back being prepped or waiting for pickup, but none that didn't already have a deposit on them. Seems pretty good for an area with several dealers within a moderate drive.

One of the funniest posts I have read in a long time! Thanks for the laugh:D
My local dealer had a couple of them on the floor, I think an S and a non S but that doesn't mean anything. They have a small shop so things will stay boxed and crated until they have room for someting. I think the first 7 were pre-sold but I don't know how many they've sold since then. I sat on one and I think the reach is way to far for me to be comfortable but it's a beautiful bike with a lot of capability. I am probably a purist and think Ducs should have a trellis frame too.

I think he is the only in this forum being sincere. I am sure most of know as much as he does.
I was in a SoCal ducati shop yesterday and i asked them this same question and they said that they have sold somewhere in the high 40's in 6 weeks....

Nobody got that many....I could be wrong but IIRC most dealers got around 24-26 and an S demo. That's it until late fall or 2013.
I'll tell you what is a hot bike, the MV Augusta 600....the dealers just haven't got them as of yet. I saw one in my local dealer and it was simply gorgeous!!! It will definetly cut into 848 and Jap 600 sales.
Had a brutale and it was a super bike, but dealers for them come and go, and the whining on here about ducati support, wait til you get in the MV crowd, a pain in the ass to get ANYTHING for your bike.

But my brute was dead reliable great looking and was my daily rider for some time. I do want to know how come the MVs are SO freakin heavy, the F4 they tested in road racing world with the pani was 480 pounds!
