I am riding a 2000 900SS and the instrument cluster recently seemed to just fall over and become dangerously loose. I know that there are some rubber mounts that the cluster rests on but it literally bounces around and falls to the side when riding. Is this normal? Can anybody snap a picture of their gauge cluster and where the secure/mounting points are? I can seem to locate them on mine. I have a bad feeling they had some how sheered off.

Sorry Wrexhamm no pics of the 2000 900SS dash mounting points but I had a sorta similar problem with my '95 900SS. I noticed one day that when I'd hit any road bumps my dash and right side mirror would visibly flop around quite a bit. It was alarming to say the least. Turned out that the steel tubing on my front subframe had actually broken. Yellow arrow in the pic points to it.

I had a buddy of mine just do a quick weld repair job on it since I'll be pulling my motor soon to do some more work on it,at that time I'm going to have him reweld the entire subframe and add a few gussets for a nicer and more solid permanent repair.

Thanks for the pic. Doesn't help much but giving me a good idea. A 99 + pic would really help out! I looked at mine and can't even seem to locate where the tabs are let alone supposed to be.
there are only 2 10mm bolts holding it on. they are VERY easy to locate. Just take a look.

Punch - Thank you! That's exactly what I needed. I believe the reason I couldn't find those 2 10 mm bolts is because they don't exist anymore. They seemed to have been replaced by just a rubber stop to prevent vibration. To be honest I am not sure what was keeping it in place before this?! At least the tab is still in place so I will just need to locate the proper bolts.

Thank you for all the replies!

Look at item # 17 - this is the mount (or 'bolt' in your above post) that goes between the instrument panel and the frame tabs where you see the nut (item #18). You'll find one end has broken off, by the sound of it inside the instrument cluster.
If you go order two of the item #17's and replace them you'll be sorted.

Most post 2000 (or thereabouts) Ducatis have these or similar instrument mounts and they all break at some stage.
