HI ... I LIVE IN MICHIGAN AND I AM LOOKING TO BUY A DUCATI . I FOUND ONE LOCAL FOR SALE 1995 916 ALL STOCK WITH 7784 MILES VERY CLEAN . THE VALVE BEN Professionally maintained, timing belts replaced, valve adjustment, new voltage regulator AND THE PRICE 5250.00 .... ?? SHOULD I TAKE IT ?? OR 2002 998 WITH 16000 MILES AND OVER 10000 WORTH OF EXTRAS THE PRICE AROUND 7000.00 AND THE BIKE IS ABOUT 5HOURES DRIVE FROM MY HOUSE ...?? .. PLEASE ADVICE WHAT TO GO WITH ??? THANKS

Although the 915 sounds tempting, for reliability and performance reasons, I would opt for the newer and better designed "Testastretta" motor of the 998.

if it's going to be your only or primary bike go for the newer one definitly. and don't forget to post pictures when you get it, regardless of which one you purchase.

-- offer $4500 for the 916, and you'll be happy, especially if you're a "new to ducati" owner

-- the 998 would be a deal if all maint has been done, and you get it for $7000...not much more...full service maint. can add significantly to the price of your bike

-- which ever way you decide good luck....you'll love either one !!

BUT puhleeeeeeeeez, remove the stickers.
+1. Personally, being old school and an old fart, I wouldn't buy either, especially for a first Ducati. And never with one with that many stickers. Who knows what's being covered up.
