Hypermotard 1100 EVO SP 2011 - "Dirty Duchess"

Hello everyone,

after six and a half years of owning a 999S (full story here) I wanted a change and did not mind a more relaxed riding position either. I've liked the original Hypermotard since day one but never really looked into buying one. Now was the perfect time to get one and obviously it had to be the EVO SP to get the lighter engine, the all black Marzocchi forks etc. Unfortunately they proved to be hard to find in Europe - here in Finland there is currently only one registered :D I browsed the German, Dutch, Italian and French marketplaces for a while without any real success, the ones I found were either overpriced or had too many miles for my liking.

Eventually a dude on Facebook told me there was one for sale in Belgium. 9800km, 2011, white, 99% original condition (just the Termignoni 2-1 system installed). Luckily the seller spoke perfect English (he works at a Ducati dealer) and was even willing to pack the bike on a pallet for shipping. Long story short, the bike finally arrived in snowy Finland on the 22nd of January. Now the bike has been inspected for registration and I'm waiting for it to be taxed to get a license plate.

Pics by the seller:

Otherwise in pretty much mint condition but the alternator casing has some rock chips which have started corroding due to the cover being magnesium:

I have already purchased a NOS OEM alternator casing and will order the small parts (crank end bearing, shift shaft seal etc.) for it soon. I'll also have it coated with a matte clear coat to protect it from corrosion a bit better.

To match the alternator casing I bought a NOS DP magnesium vented clutch casing with titanium fasteners. I won't be using the included Ti screws though since they are poor quality (ugly manufacturing marks inside heads). Even though the stock clutch casing is the same color as the alternator side it's actually not magnesium so this will provide a small weight saving as well :)

To go with the alternator casing I have a stainless steel case saver and a DP 28mm billet slave. I'm hoping to use the clutch off my 999S, it's a 999F05 Corse four post slipper with Surflex aluminium plates and a carbon RS cover. More on this later...

Some other parts have also arrived - CNC Racing billet triples, CNC Racing billet cam covers, some MaxiCarbon bits, Brembo billet rear caliper (billet front calipers are off the 999S):

Please excuse all the dust in the pics, it's the late winter sun... :ROFLMAO:

To be continued :)

Beautiful bike (I think I said that in an earlier post, but worth repeating!)
Where are you located? Just starting to cool down here in North Carolina enough to be enjoyable, but fall goes quickly, especially in the mountains where the good riding is!
I'm located in Finland, so quite far away...

Season done with a whopping 716km... Might as well sell the bike and start playing sudokus.

Put a combined ~10 km on both my bikes the past two years so don't feel too bad! :ROFLMAO:

Looking through this thread and spotted the under bar mount for rotary damper. I have the factory over bar mount and it's ugly as hell but I'm not paying $430 with shipping for just the bracket to mount it under! Rather take it off and put up with some wobble! 😅

Been a while since I updated this thread, mainly because there's hasn't been anything to update 😅 Washed the bike in late September and pushed it into winter storage and didn't even visit the garage until a couple of weeks ago.

I do have some bits waiting for installation, the biggest find being new old stock Ducati Performance rearsets. I spent over two years finding a set, never thought I could find a new set. Never saw even used ones available.

The heel guards I'm currently using aren't a direct fit on these - the LH one fits but the RH one is not even close due to the brake pedal being different. I haven't modified it yet. The shift pedal pivot bolt has already been replaced with a black titanium one and I have titanium bolts waiting for mounting the rearsets as well. The carbon sprocket guard will be replaced with a smaller 3D printed "cover" like the one I had on the OEM rearsets.

I'm currently waiting for a couple of small pieces to be fabricated for the rearsets since they were missing. They require a spacer for the shift rod and a longer pushrod for the rear brake.

Found a billet rear caliper bracket recently along with a nice billet oil cap and rear shock adjuster. Caliper bracket isn't mounted yet, hoping to get it done next weekend. Also have titanium hardware for the rear suspension rocker waiting to be installed.

Hoping to get the bike finished soon and the season started in a couple of weeks :)

I was starting to think the DP rearsets didn’t exist. Definitely one of the rarest bits to obtain. Nice score!

Oh man, that billet rear caliper bracket looks epic! Glad to see you found a set of great rearsets! I'm still trying to find somebody to rig me up some adapter plates for the NCR pass pegs before I decide to offload them. Those look killer though!

I didn’t know DP made rearsets for the 1100, they look awesome.

Yeah, they are 96670308B / 96631708B:

The carbon heel guards 96987508B are designed for these rearsets:

I didn't really like how they looked with the OEM rearsets so I sold them.

Got the rearsets finally mounted today.

Had to cut the RH heel guard quite a bit, but it fits.

Hoping to start the season next Sunday, just need to adjust and lube the chain, check tire pressures and wash the bike before that.

how do you activate the brake light? I don't see a switch. I had to use a galfer banjo switch.

There is the same switch as on the original rearsets, doesn't really show on the pic above.

Did you buy that case saver at the front sprocket somewhere? Or did you make your own?
In the last case, do you happen to have the drawings and or dimensions for it?
I would really like to have one as well.

I have a new COX stainless steel guard somewhere if you're interested.

Season finally started yesterday after a quick wash and chain adjustment.

Not 100% happy with the DP rearsets, the pegs and pedals are quite slippery. I'll remove the red plastic-ish covers from the pegs and maybe source some black O rings to fit on the machined grooves on the pedals for more grip/feel. TBH my boots aren't the greatest either, been thinking of getting new ones for a while already.
