Just picked up a 2019 1260 Pikes Peak. Amazing. So smooth and precise. Back to back rides on my 950 hyper SP makes the MTS feel so smooth and relaxed!

This example is bone stock. Any recommendations on must have accessories?

I’m looking forward to putting some touring miles on it. Any idea if there are panniers available aftermarket that use the factory mount points? I’d check out the classifieds section here on Ducati.ms but apparently I need to post more to get access.

Thanks all!

congrats on your purchase. Why not the Ducati panniers? They mount/demount quick, are easy to use and waterproof. (in my experience anyway)
And you should have some key cylinders for the bags so one key operates all your locks. (check the tool pouch)

I would love the Ducati Panniers (I think) for all the reasons that you said. But I’m having a hard time dropping a cold grand for new ones. I don’t think I’d use them but once or twice a year. I’m hoping that I can find some in the classifieds here once I get access. It would be interesting to see if any other manufacturers have got an option though. I’d like to avoid having to mount another bracket just to use any other brand of panniers.

Welcome to the MTS "Pikes Peak" club! As an alternative to panniers, I use Kriega soft luggage. Below is an older pic of the setup (40 liters of storage):

I haven't seen any aftermarket panniers using the oem mount points, I think you'll need to mount racks. There are some aftermarket brackets for a Givi trunk that are pretty unobtrusive.

Congrats on the purchase. I added a c-stand, radiator guard, crash bars & heated grips to my '20 PP. All those parts came off a '16 1200, along with my panniers, so in most cases you can look for parts that fit any '15-'20 MS.

If you're doing touring, it's hard to beat the factory plastic panniers and topcase, with bag liners. Can't find any used ones? Any 1260S pannier set will fit the PP - somebody has to be selling a set cheaper than the dealer, no?

Thanks. I appreciate the feedback. Good info.

I sometimes purchase OEM Duc parts from across the pond. The euro to usd conversion was nearly equal so it can be advantageous. Shipping is quick too. (More costly but the savings make up for it)
Oh man that’s great advice. Do you have any favorite euro shops? I think at this point I’m going oem.

This is great info. Compatibility with the older models will open up my options for sure. Thanks!

For US-based OEM stuff, if you can't get a good relationship with your local dealer / local dealer is too far, AMS Ducati Dallas is a great vendor for OEM accessories and parts.
I try to order local when I can, since they give a discount for buying the bike from them - but yeah, availability being what it is these days, EU sometimes is a better, or the only, option.

Excluding bling (which the skies the limit) the 1260 doesn't need much in terms of functional accessories.
Heated grip if you don't have them. A Rad guard. A GPS / Phone bracket mounted above the display is very handy.
About the OEM Panniers: I have them but only used them once in four years. What I do use is a small tail pouch.

Thanks D! I think you and I are on the same thought. It’s already a great bike as it is. Mine came with a rad guard and heated grips. I just picked up the evo tech gps mount last night. Not much else to do really. Would you be interested in making a deal for your panniers?

I appreciate the offer to purchase my panniers but I bought them knowing I wasn't going to use them much. However, they're at hand if ever I need them. If you're serious about touring, they are worth the money. Very high quality and unobtrusive. P.S. Do re-glue the rubber pannier boots as they can come off.
