Basic question: How to search by keyword subject line in a specific forum?

For example, show me all messages with the word "Givi" in the subject but only within the Multistrada forum?

Seems there is an option for Vbscript, so if that is how to do it let me know how :)

Thank you!

In the red border just below the thread page count on the right side of the page there's a "Search This Forum" tab. Hit that and enter your search term. You have the choice of results listed as posts or thread titles.

If you're on a phone all bets are off as to what you do or don't see.

You can also use the Advanced Search function accessed through the Search link in the grey border and search just thread titles in any forum you want.

How To Access Advanced Search
If you have already entered your search words in the search bar but want to narrow down your results or choose to search only certain forum selections, click on “Advanced Search”.

This will allow you to choose to search titles only, add the member username who posted it or even select a specific forum to search from the scroll menu within search in forums.

If you prefer to go directly to advanced search, you can access it under the 3 vertical dots at the top right-hand corner of the community.

Due to the volume of content, our search platform may take some time to complete indexing. During this process, you may see a limited number of posts until indexing has been completed. We appreciate your patience.

How about searching within a specific thread, not across all threads within a forum?

You bring up a good point, I have not seen the search thread option with the new software. Maybe the IT peeps will weigh in on this and let us know what options are available for that (if any).

That is currently not an available option, though we may be able to build out that functionality soon. With the advanced search function you can still find exact comments within a thread, and even bookmark the comments you may want to revisit.

Hope that clarifies,

Not sure I understand - on the one hand you say that's not an available option, but on the other hand you say it can be done using advanced search? I was looking under advanced search and couldn't figure out how to specify a thread. For example, I want to search the "Superbike picture thread..." for "rapidtek" and "748".

I guess I could have been more clear. My apologies. From within a thread you can not search for specific terms.
But if you use Advanced Searches, it will load comments within threads.

Unfortunately, the ability to specify with "" or + or similar advanced SEO options. We're currently in the process of enabling these functions.
Hope that is more clear, otherwise I can try to clarify again ?

So will we ever be able to search within a thread like we used to, and if not why not? It's really hard to find specific information in a megathread, like looking for "airbox" in the "Hypersport with EVO engine" thread. If we weren't limited to 20 posts per page, I might be willing to use my browser search on each page as a PAINFUL workaround. This was such a great forum for information, but now it's hobbled by a weak search.

We'll be working towards developing this suggestion, but I don't know how long this will take to develop.

OK, not sure if you changed something, but I learned how to do it from another forum and it works here. Navigate to the thread, then type your search criteria in the search box at the top. When you start typing, three options will display under your text to search "across the entire site", "in this forum, or "in this discussion". Choose the last one.

Near the top of the community, you will see a search bar.

Enter a search term or phrase and click enter on your keyboard or click the magnifying glass.

Advanced Search
To narrow down search results, click on “Advanced Search” after clicking the search bar.

This will allow you to choose to search titles only, add the member username who posted it or even select a specific forum to search from.

Enter your search criteria and click “Search “ at the bottom.

You can also access advanced search by clicking the 3 vertical dots near the upper right-hand corner of the site and selecting “Advanced “Search”

Search Specific Forum
If you want to search a specific section, navigate to the forum section before entering your search term in the search bar and then select the option.

Search Specific Discussion Thread
If you want to search a specific discussion thread, navigate to it before entering your search term in the search bar and then select the option.
