how does the bike read the mileage on a sport classic? meaning is it digital or through the engine or from a speedo cable to axle?

does anyone know?

on the rear wheel, next to the brake rotor, there is a little black sensor which counts the hub bolts of the rear wheel as it turns.

this sensor is wired along the swing arm, up the frame, to a connector under your seat............ (if that's why you ask...) the other end of the connector goes to your instrument cluster.

the speedo and miles counter are directly affected by this sensor, and, you should know, it's highly illegal to unplug it. But I promise not to tell anyone... :D
