His wife was holding the gas tank up on his 996 while he was replacing the quick disconnects.. The cat meowed, so she was compelled to go investigate.. The gas tank fell, hit the ground, dented the front corner and added some nice scratches.

He repaired the tank but now the reserve fuel light stays on. Fuses and relays checked as well as the wire connection to the tank. It worked perfectly before the "cat meow" incident. Plenty of fuel in the tank..

Thought it might be a stuck float after the impact, but cant see anything that looks like a float..

Any wonderful suggestions??? Thanks guys.

P.S. the wife is still alive...

The float is in the black tube secured to the plate with that big black plastic nut. You need to take the plate off to get the float out. After you take the plate out and before you take the float off, plug it back back in and turn the unit upside down and see if the light goes out. I'm sure you can figure things out from there.:)

Xracer....Thanks. That was what we were hoping for. Had to be a float somewhere.
