This was discussed on the old site. It is all in the light switch and I believe someone did modify their switch so both lights operate on high beam. Concern was raised about what effect the additional heat would have on the surrounding plastic.jneglia said:
My 01-ST4 and 02-ST4s both had DD headlights. I have not done any extensive night riding with my 04-ST4s. From what little I have done, the lights on the "new style" ST's appear adequate, but not outstanding like the DD's. I do not feel the need to upgrade like I did with the OEM lights on the earlier ST's, which can be described as "inadequate" bordering on "hazardous". I do not think the "new style" ST's can begin to compare in looks with the "old style" ST's + DD headlghts.
