Apologies if this is more evident to others than it was to me, but regarding the five little screws that hold the top and bottom halves of the "knuckle guard" to the turn signal: They're not 2mm hex heads. They're T9 Torx. That's a little bitty socket in the head of a black screw, so if you're not looking at it with pretty bright light, it's easy to mistake. It was for me, especially when they backed out of the broken pieces using a 2mm Allen.

Suggestion if you're making this repair: Before you start assembly, since these are self-tapping screws, run them into the holes once before assembly. That'll make it easier to thread in once your working space (around the throttle grip and the lever) gets crowded.
