I'm changing the oil on my carburated Monster 900, and I just noticed what looks like pieces of a gasket sitting in my oil pan screen. Any ideas what they could be, or more importantly, if I should be concerned?

the old case centre gaskets had large pieces of unsupported paper at the bottom, almost like a sump divider? maybe part of that?

I'm no mechanic, but can't imagine gasket material which should be soft, damaging metal parts, even if it got between trans gears somehow. Maybe I just lack imagination.

They are the same shape, so probably some gasket holes or voids didn’t get completely cut out. If it was mine I wouldn’t worry about it. You could try flushing the engine out with diesel or kerosene if it bothers you.

To follow up on this, I've been riding it all week with no apparent trouble, so I guess it was nothing to worry about!:grin2:
