How do you guys manage your:
1. Garage Door opener - Vanson jacket has no pockets. small remote hanging somewhere? whats the best way to open the garage door while pulling into driveway?
2. Smart Tag/EZ Pass - i've seen mounts, but don't really want to have mount specifically for the pass. i'll probably mount on the windshield, but can this be mounted behind a fairing?
3. when rollling into work, i need to use my id badge to get into the parking lot. my SV has a tank bra and i clip the pull-cord and badge to that. once i get the 999, i'm not sure how i'm going to manage this if i'm wearing the Vanson without pockets. of course, the morning rush in always have tons of cars, sticking into the cross street, waiting to get through the gate. i feel putting my foot down to grab the badge is slow enough. any suggestions? i may have to velcro the badge to my left wrist and just ride close enough to activate the badge (but its so ghetto).

thanks!

For the garage door, I wired in a Taiddan module. Now all I have to do is flash my high beams and the door opens. They used to be on ebay, but I didn't see any when I last looked.

No suggestion for the Smart Tag/EZ pass.

Be careful with the pull cord. I've had the string break on many of them. You wouldn't want your badge falling off at 40 mph.

Not sure what all your stuff is, but for me:

Garage door remote, smaller than a matchbox, have a little lanyard clip that I hook on to my zipper pull.

For what we have here, called "Fasttrak" for the toll bridges, attached it to one of my bikes with plastic ties under the front fairing.

You may want to consider a little nylon bag attached to the frame, that you can put in your essentials. I have those on my bikes. It holds the keys, cell phone, wallet, ID badges for office building. But I still have the garage remote hooked on to the outside of my jacket [sometimes, because it is small, I put it in a pocket].

Also, for mounting anything on to the bike, including the fairing, use 3M "dual lock" Velcro mounts. They will hold anything. This stuff is industrial grade.

I'd get this one, as the seller has free shipping and you get ten pieces, which can be cut to size. Can never have enough this dual lock Velcro, IMHO

+1 to the suggestions of the rainman. Search for the little garage door openers and you may want to consider getting a small pouch sewn onto the sleeve of your jacket. Insert badge and you're good to go.

Call ahead and have the wife/girlfriend standing by to open the garage door and hand you a cool drink. I'm not sure how that would work as I've never tried it, nor will I.

There are several companies that make velcro arm/wrist pouches to put your ID badge in.

I need to try and mount my E-Z Pass on the bike somehow. Mine came with two sets of the velcro stuff, I'm not sure if I'll try and mount it "under" the windshield or just zip-tie it to the frame.

Aerostich makes a wonderful little pouch for the left forearm that vecro's onto their suits because they are all constructed with velcro on the arm for things like this... velcro onto the arm of your jacket and VOILA..you have a placement for the EZPass and the ID Badge...as far as the garage door opener....sounds like what Roto has is just the trick ya need!...here's a couple of pics of the unit I am talking about...

or there is the flatter one....

and here's a link for more detailed information!

Velcro the EZPass on the windshield.

The velcro strips that came with mine are clear colored, and don't show up much on the bottom of the windshield on my ST4s when the box itself isn't on there. Works like a charm, just don't forget and leave it on the bike when you go into work, it might not be there when you come out!

great! the taiddan remote is exactly what i need. i'll hunt one down. i'll get the aerostitch for my id badge. i can probably cruise pass the gate sensor without stopping.

the smartpass/ezpass comes with superstrong velcro. i just need to find the best place to mount it. too low/hidden and i risk the gates not coming up (sometimes they don't come up anyways).

but these things will definitely decrease stress levels. i don't like fumbling around for things. i'd ask about any cell phone solutions (bluetooth headset), but i'll probably get flamed.. :)

thanks guys.

I ride an ST2, and I've used a tank bag since the early '80s. Escort Passport 8500 on the top-front-left of the tank bag. This radar det. has a built-in voltmeter, so when it's not sensing any signals, the read-out displays the voltage (a handy thing to know on a DUC).

Inside the tank bag, towards the front-right area is my EZpass.

Garage is manual. I recall reading about someone that re-wired their "flash-to-pass" button, so that it would energize a remote for their garage door. The normal hi-beam button is used for normal hi-beams.

I have a FirstGear Z-Pilot jacket that comes with two sleeve pockets which I found to be one of the handiest pockets I've ever come across. My garage door opener is a keyfob type and fits in the right one where I can get to it while I'm rolling in the driveway (and I also have a "high beam" activated opener too, but only for one bike. On some of my other jackets, I've sewn a small pocket into the sleeve where I put my opener. On my mesh jacket, I split the seam and made a pocket.

Speed pass... can you mount it on top of your gauges near underside of the the screen?

Badge... I'd go with the Aerostich pocket

I don't have to worry about the garage door opener (yet) or the badge but as far as the FasTrak pass, I just stick it in my pocket. If it reads (which it usually doesn't), cool. If not, they snap a little picture of my license & bill my account that way. No difference in charges either way. I'll need to remember to add my new cage to the account though, when the plates finally decide to arrive.

i decided the aerostitch pouch is a bit big for me.
i just got some velcro from home depot and i'm going to attach it to a badge pouch--it came with the badge and has ziploc seals. i bought two types of velcro to do this. one with sticky backing, 2in wide. i'm going to stick the hard part of the loops onto the badge pouch. and then i got 2in wide velcro straps. these don't have sticky backing so i can just wrap around my wrist.

but has anyone who drives the Dulles Toll Road in N.Va. tried to mount the smart-tag under the front fairing of a 999? i want to consider the windshield a last resort as it scratches and looks ugly on my current bike.

thanks in advance.
