Hi
i have a MTS1200ST and need to remove the front wheel for a new tyre do i need one of the aligning tools to hold the axle whilst tightning the axle nut? is there a trick to stop the axle spinning
+1 on that. You should leave the pinch bolts loose and bounce the the front with the brake on a few times, then tighten the pinch bolts. It helps align the forks.
You would want to leave the pinch bolts tight while removing and tightning the axle.
1.) Remove brake calipers
2.) Loosen the axle nut
3.) Loosen the pinch bolts
4.) Use the end of screw-driver to puch the axle thru
5.) Change tire and repeat above in reverse order
6.) After I have the axle nut tight I loosen the pinch bolts again in case the axle is bound up at all. I then tighten everything to proper torque specs
Like someone else has mentioned just use the pinch bolts properly and you'll be fine.
