Decided to install the optional front mud guard, as I will occasionally ride on some dirt and gravel roads. What a PITA ... I mean, unless I am missing something, I don't think the mechanical engineer tried to install this part after completing the CAD drawings ... And for such a simple part, should have taken two minutes ...

It's amazing how 2 screws can be such a pain...
on each side and the brake line and the fittment. I swapped mine for an OE cf replacement and it took wayyyy longer than it should've. I wont change it again if I don't have to.

Truth told it wasnt that hard, but as the OP mentioned more pain that it should've been.

I had the dealer put mine on when I had the first service. Seems to be secure. I wanted it on for the additional protection.

My guard extension went into the rubbish bin.

If you also have a Radiator guard fitted, on heavy braking the guard extension would rub on the Rad guard

If you want protection from the front wheel there is also a simple small metal engine guard to be had . 2 screws and protects the engine cover...
Mine wobbles some too.\Never really paid much attention to it. Seems like a part that shound be on but does look better without it

I plan to ride gravel roads a bit quite frequently. Is the consensus that a radiator guard is best? Something else? If you have something you really like could you post a link?
Thanks,

Well, I ended up putting the front mud guard on later this afternoon. Not real easy but not too bad. It feels as secure as the rest of the fender. Looks good.
