Hi chaps,

Took my 07 hyper s up to a suspension specialist the other week and just got the word back...

They said there's good news and bad news. Good news is the shock is pretty ok. Bad news...they were pretty amazed by the forks...on the outside all good...on the inside...bad..can't remember the details but it was pretty much 'fur coat and no knickers'...over sprung, under damped etc. Not revalvable so the solution is to put in a new cartridge and machine an adaptor for the fork top adjusters.so they can be retained.

More details as the work is done.....

price is pretty reasonable though :)

But as others have said..for an S model the forks are bad.. ducati

or was that undersprung and overdamped...anyway the solution is less than £500 so relatively..when all things are considered a good deal compared to rizoma rear sets :)

Sit tight. Ohlins will have a new option soon!

No offense Karlr, but none of this is "new info"

You are right..it's not really new info..although the price is less than racetech and probably ohlins too.
THe work is being done by maxton engineering who are well respected this side of the pond. This is the first time that they have looked at an HM and the quote was theirs , they couldn't believe the quality of the internals compared with the fur coat externals..although I think the analogy gets lost somewhere...

racetech.. proven by us and on the track/dirt at pikes! also they are keepers that you can take with you to the next bike.

why re-invent the wheel or wait for ohlins. ohlins are nothing special.

rspect Pedro

But I like to shop local...think of the carbon footprint. Maxton also support quite a few BSB and WSS teams so I think they know what they are about..but they are only a small outfit..their products are beautifully engineered though.

I don't understand the cost for the UK. I'm in Oz and we get ripped for everything but I'm from the UK. I just ordered it direct from the US over the phone and paid via CC and it turned up in the post. It should be nowhere near 1500 quid!! I paid $1500 Au for mine all up with springs!!

I know, but that's what they quoted..(uk importers), It's still getting on for about £700 if ordered direct plus fitting plus any tax the customs want to throw on it. So I think my local solution might work. I should get the bike back next week. I think you are right about Ohlins btw. THere's an element of paying for the name.
