Put the Renthal Fatbars on.

A relatively easy job.
Titanium coloured matches well with the brake and clutch brackets.
Re-routed the cable etc outside of the headlamp housing unit.:rolleyes:which just lifts easily out of its 2 locators.
You do have to drill 3 holes in the bars at various location to accomodate
the small anti-turn lugs inside the switches and the throttle handlebar housing.
Haven't been for a spin yet, raining again, but they feel much more user friendly now,so shall report back later.:abduct:
Oh Yea,I binned the pillion footrest hanger as well.

I think I missed you posting, what's the difference between the fat bars and standard bars other than thicker I assume, reason for changing?

The CRG you have, what color is that bare alum?? I didn't realize they came in anything but black but quite like that.

Hi Chris,
Reason for changing was, I have a bad neck and spine from too many miles on an SRAD,18,000 in the 1st year, oh yes and 25 years of building work.:eek:and I found the stock bars on the SF too far forward.
I also prefer to ride motocross style which, with wider bars gives me more confidence,I tend to lean the bike over rather than hanging off it.

Fat Bars are 28.6mm (1 1/8” )n the middle which fits the SF Top Yoke clamps and then they taper down to 22,2mm.(7/8”)
This allows you to fit the standard controls on the bike
The Bars also flex very slightly which reduces fatigue on the rider.
They are normally used on dirt bikes.
I also noticed whilst doing this that the handlebar clamps are rubber mounted which would reduce vibration ,jolly thoughtfull of the Boffins at Ducati....

The colour is Titanium which is slightly darker than the frame.

Go here for a look.:alien:

I see,
Thanks very much for the info and especially on the mirrors too! I've got crgs on my tuono, but stock on my brutale, so not sure about what to do on the duc.

In your opinion, do you think the reservoirs can be lowered? Looking at the pic a bracket with less offset could be made and the reservoirs still sit above the mastercylinders. The other thought is to change out to a more elongated reservoir as on the nissin equipped brutales, this are almost in line with the handlebars and not quite noticeable. That's one reason why I'm thinking to keep the standard mirrors because otherwise the reservoirs would stick way up.

BTW. talked to my dealer today, he confirmed my bike was one of two that arrived and he wanted my permission to put it on display at the launch tomorrow, as it's pearl white and in a club should really look great.

I just bent the brackets down and they would go lower but i was happy-ish with them after..
Will probably get some 'trick'ones soon.
What is a CRGS when it's at home ??

Wheelie time

Took the SF out for a spin as the sun was shiny:)

The Renthals are a vast ergonomic improvement on stock but the front does come up quite easily as my weight isn't over the front now.

Still Mega fun though.
Great to see that someone changed the bar already and that there is obviously some serious improvement over the original bar. I have my SF for over a week now and put 750 km on the clock and the really only annoying thing are the bars which -for my taste- are far too low and also a bit narrow.
I will get that done at the 1,000 km inspection.

Do it yourself,big fella.;)It's easy.........
hedetrimmer, would you by any chance know the inside diameter at the ends? I ordered a set of Oberon mirrors based on someone saying they're 14mm id tube (stock bars) but I'd like to do the mod you just did without having to buy another set of mirrors. (I don't have the bike yet)
Thanks a ton!

The bars were 22.2mm minus 5mm thick =17.2 but you can get bits to widen the internal expandy gadgets that hold the bar end mirrors in position or just cut some inner tube around to fill the gap or even silcon them in:sleep:
Here's the ones I got and they fitted straight on.
These ones give a very good idea of who's behind you ,oink, oink.

As you said, anything can be made to fit. Thanks again!

I'm a useless banker. Good for nothing....
Hedetrimmer , any chance of measuring the width of the Renthal bars? (end of grip to the other end). I have no complaint for the stock bars being low but they seem a bit narrow for me.
Fatty Bars.

You can't be that useless if you can afford one of these.....
I figure I'd post it for anyone else interested, I just got one.

I d prefer a little wider handlebars too , maybe 2cm each side (i think i dont need them to be higher cause i like the leaning forward agressive body position) As far as I remember the S4R Magura bars are similar to the SFs but wider . Or are they higher too ?Does anyone care to compare the two?
