I've noticed in the parts manual what appears to be sound deadening material on the inside of the left and right fairing panels (fully faired SS's) for my 95 SS. I've owned it for 6 years and the material was missing ever since I've had her. The bike is a CR that a prior owner put full fairing panels on. Does this material serve any significant purpose, i.e. to dampen vibration and thus reduce cracks from developing in the fiberglass or is it just useless weight, hence why the prior owner probably removed it in the first place? Is it even available anymore thru Ducati?

What's the consensus?

Best,

Chris

Just extra weight I wouldn't worry.

Thanks for the input. I was concerned that maybe it's primary purpose was to deaden vibration since those fairings really aren't connected to anything other than the two frame mounts per side (and to each other underneath).
