Does anybody know what is fair for a dealer to charge to consign a bike?

My dealer did it NO CHARGE for me when I purchased a new bike from him a few months ago. That's all I know.

some work on % some on $$. We charge a minimum of 10% consignment fee

^my experience being the same given that i sold two Ducati's this way, this year, via my local dealership. while the monies may have been close, a minimum % was not the case in my dealings.

i like the idea. why? it lures a buyer who wants/needs to have the confidence and trust that buying a used bike from a dealership may bring. it also attracts that buyer who might require financing at the point of sale. i had one wonderful cash transaction (private sale) of my own, one disastrous and failed private sale, and two very easy and timely consignment ones. i'll take the consignment route if time isn't of the essence.
