I've seen a few posts on the web about installing a 1098 motor into a xx9 bike. I would love to tackle a project like this but I have to wonder why not an 1198 motor? Plus adding an 1198s harness and sensor for traction control seems pretty sweet.

Are there any added issues to the 1198 apart from the air box?
Are there exhaust fitment issues?
Also, my v2 aprilia runs an open air tray with a piper cross filter covering the throttle bodies. Could something like this work instead of a reworked box?

Most excellent my dude!
Did you have to modify your exhaust at all or do the 999 pipes fit up to the 1198 headers? What's your air box situation? Any troubles you ran into?

Exhaust and airbox needs to be modified to work.

I used the Bursi airbox with 2Moto adapter plates to use 959 injectors and stacks. I've heard people have problems with the Bursi box, it's not 100% bolt on, but was easy to modify to work for my setup

I used full 1198 dash and harness
