I am looking at buying a 2006 999S. I have always enjoyed doing me own servicing but I have noticed that the 999 has a service light. Has anyone figured out how to reset these when they come on?
Also I presume it is like all other modern bikes, they tell you it needs to be plugged in but in reality it is not necessary as long as the bike is well maintained?

Really ?

I had my 6K service performed at 5,800 miles.

Guess what : the light came on at 6K. Irritates me. Wondering whether there's a way around this without having to drive for an hour....

Anything on flea bay ?

On my SS1000DS, it was a question of starting it with one of the buttons pressed, no big deal..

In my mind I let the light be one so that I know it works.

Just leave the damn thing and tell people that there is a wrench in the motor, that is what is causing all the noise.

What can I say. I posted this question on another forum back in '03 and this was the reply. Never seen it since!
