On this list there is a 1000DS engine for sale, but it's pricey and I don't think it will include the injection, ecu, etc.. http://www.kaemna.com/cms_en/ne_gebr_engines.htm
Here is SA there is a 1000DS Multistrada for sale that was in a minor front end accident (the frame snapped). It's going for R25000 which is about $3500 for the complete bike minus the instruments, which incidently contain an important part of the immobiliser. You'll recall I posted a question as to how one can get around the built-in immobiliser on these bikes and it seems the only way is to get a FIM ECU. This is another $700-odd to add to your swap budget. Must say, I was also seriously considering doing what you have in mind when I saw this one coming up..
