Formerly the head mechanic at modesto ducati until they closed their doors. don babb is back, working on ducatis(and other sport bikes) at Boss CycleSports in modesto, CA. highly competent, friendly ducati specialist( they flew him out to italy for the schools a few years back). i totally recommend them for anyone in the area. The shop is very fair, tbey only hit me up for an hour to tune my ecu and synch my throttle bodies, tps reset, etc. My bike ran like sh!t and would not idle. Now its running better than new and i couldnt be more happy.

I know quite a few of u are familiar w don. Theres even a member here who flew don to hawaii to work on his bike. Yes, hes that good with a wrech and dignostic tools. He aint slow either!! back in the day we used to ride together and just when i felt like valentino rossi on our favorite loop, don would come around the outside of me and raise his butt as to fart:Dhe used to school us on his slightly modded 620 multistrada. All o us, reguardless of bike:)

Great guy, incredibly friendly and highly recommended if ur duc is sick or need improvements. He and his wife, deanna(formerly managed modesto ducati), taught me a lot over the years...good people.

Again (209)526-bike boss cyclesport. They have a great suspension guy as well, matt(i appologize for not having his last name handy). He does dirt and street bike setups.

Yes! They had lots of repeat customers! My brother got his street fighter from them and a husky 610. I bought my hyper and a used ktm from deanna(her personal bike, that bike was cursed, she went down HARD at buttonwillow racetrack and i then proceeded to loose the front in corners twice)and another ktm motard they had at the shop on consignment which is now my sons 8 years later. When i met deanna she was riding/owned a bimota db8 i believe:) she was hardcore, perfect match for don!

It really fooking sucked when that shop closed down. It was the friendliest motorcycle shop ive even been in to this day. They actually gave a shit if the customer was happy instead of selling a potentially more profitable bike, they would find what really met ur needs(even if it was cheaper) to insure in the long term u remained happy.

John, where are u getting ur bike services done now? My brothers SF is do for the big service(belts, valve lash, etc)? Unfortunately don may be picked up by the modesto city school district for employment shortly... :(

Good for him but bad for our bikes...

If only I'd known. I just picked up my HYM from it's 22.6k tune up and though I'm happy with the service I'm still in shock over the price.

The 1098R will definitely have the 7500 (1st) service from Don, if he's not booked out 6 weeks . When I brought my 1199S into the old Modesto Duc shop - he welcomed with a huge grin and gave to me a verbal education in short oder on the why and such of this particular V twin. Had me hooked ...
My buddy (2005 999) f$#@ed his wheel up during an unintended off road manuever, and Don had the wheel sent to one of his own gurus and fixed the wheel in lieu of stinging said bud for another (new) wheel/rim. :yeah:

Clay up at A&S does good work and he used to work at Don's place in Modesto. Worked on my bike when he was at Modesto Ducati. Top notch service but you will pay dealer level fees. Don did my 12,000 mile service on the ST just recently and it is, I'm finally happy to say, back together and running like a top.
Unfortunately for Don, I didn't win the lottery. But if I did I'd just buy him his own shop so he could work on my bikes.:D

Don's the best. Took my bike to BOSS to get ohlins seals replaced and an oil change. Don still has that great attitude and loves to talk about bikes and rides. He's on vacation this week, but when he gets back I'm sure they can take care of anyone's needs.
