I recently bought a 2012 Monster 796 ABS that has the full Termignoni exhaust system with the Race ECU and air filter (it says "M 796 ABS RACE" when I turn the bike on). Does the ECU that comes with the full Termignoni kit (people say it's the same ECU as with the slip-ons) eliminate the O2 sensors? My O2 sensors are in the pipes, which makes me think they don't.

Smartmoto sells an O2 eliminiator for a M796 that people seem to say makes a huge difference. I figured I wanted to try this before I go with either a ECU flash (I was also given the stock ECU, so I'd get that flashed) or go with a Rapid Bike Evo. But if the O2 sensors are already eliminated, than I don't want to waste my money.

I recently put in a 14T sprocket to help out <4k RPMs and to reduce the studdering I get when pulling away in first gear. It definitely helped, but I'm looking into eliminating it or at least smoothing it at more.

I've been searching for a factual answer, and have not been able to find out. Some people say it does, some say it doesn't. Thanks in advance!

Just my .02 worth... having a '13 796, with 10000 miles on it...

I just recently replaced my chain and sprocket set... I retained the 15T front, and went up on the rear instead. I still have a 14T front new in the package but decided the proper thing to do was to go up on the rear. If your bike is nearing that mileage threshold, you might consider just making that change, instead of the 14T shortcut. I didn't realize it, but my chain was so worn, it was slapping the side of the tire, cutting grooves into the side of the tread. Yes, it was a bit pricey. Yes, I sleep better at night, now.

I suspect the DP race flash retains the O2 sensors, and, assuming you still have it, the exhaust flapper. Aftermarket flashes can (or not) eliminate either or.

the ecu in the 796 is the conti, and they are all lambda enabled from ducati. all conti, marelli 5sm/7sm and mitsubishi ecu are closed loop in any application.

they can have the lambda disabled when flashed by a non ducati method.

the last non lambda ducati performance ecu (race for those who love the word) would have been the 5am in the 1198 i think.

Thanks for the replies! I ordered an o2 sensor eliminator for now, and if/when I get my eco flashed i’ll also make sure it eliminates the o2 sensor. ?

So I just installed them and the bike fired up wayyy better than it ever has before (it's cold, haven't rode since last night). I have the fairings off right now, as I'm fixing the screens in them. So I didn't get to ride with them yet, but just from seeing how much better it started (started right up rather than having to hold the button for 4-5 seconds), I'm excited!

I will post back with my impressions after I get some riding in.

Okay, just got back from a ride and...omg, what a difference! Pulling away from a stop no longer surges and judders. It was nice a smooth. And the bike just felt better through all the gears, it was crazy.

So I can 100% guarantee that the DP ECU that comes with the full termignoni kit still has under 5k as a closed loop.

I bought the o2 eliminator from Greece on eBay.
