Hey guys, I just have a quick question, my parents bought me a brand new 999 in August and I just took it out of storage from its first winter this year. I put it away in heated storage that was kept at about 65-70*F and it wasn’t in a humid environment. However, one thing I forgot to do was add stabil to the tank of gas :(. It was stored from about the end of November to about the first week of April. It started right up and seems to run fine, but I'm worried that I could have hurt the motor or something by letting the gas sit in there to long. I just want to know if I could have messed anything up or if deposits could be built up in it now or anything. Thanks!

P.S. I stored it with a full tank of gas

As long as it's running fine you're good. Ride it and enjoy.

Bad news. It's absolutely junked. You'll have to replace the motor.

Good news, though - I'll be a nice guy and help you out. Take that junked bike off your hands for $7500.

Well I will give you $7600, for it.

But you will be fine even though I won't take it out of 2nd gear you might damage the forks.
Can I come and live w/your parents, I will pay half for a 999r.

Sorry, just kidding!!!!!

I sense abit of envy in that.. :p

Why? Because i Envy the guy to. I want my parents to buy ME a 999!

Oh well..

The bike will run fine. I´ve stored my bikes without aditives both warm AND cold with no problems. Modern gas keeps longer then only 3-5 months. ALOT longer.

Just ride it. If your REALLY nervous, you can dump an octane booster in there, but i wouldn´t bother with it.

I'm 20 and it was bought for me because I was in a local college where I worked my ass off to get into a great university. So to congratulate me my parents got me my dream bike :). I'm super excited. Thanks for the quick responses guys :)

parental support of bike riding

Hell, I'm over 50 and my mom still asks if I still ride that GD bike after 32 years. She might buy me a helmet though, if I asked her to.

These guys seem helpful but they're really out to get in your pockets... If OldBaldy or G35AT were really your friends like I am they'd have offered you the full $8 grand that junk 999 is worth... When it comes time to sell, just remember who your real friend is! :D

I'd say you've made a very, very serious mistake...... Why, why, why didn't you ask for a Desmosedici?

Ignore the green little monsters around here. We all wish that someone would too buy us a nice new 999. Well done on doing so well on school and getting into a good one. I'd say you earned the 999. You can tell your parents they gave me a great idea to motivate my collage age son.. "So Jason.....about that 800SS........."
