Well it’s finally here. #243 with about 4500mi on the odometer.

It’s got the GP7 exhaust system and came with all the street exhaust, race exhaust, stock belly pan, stock tail, all manuals and paperwork, front stand, rear stand. BSTs new in box, STM slipper clutch new in box, and a few other goodies.

That being said, I am pretty anal about my bikes and this was in much worse shape than I would have preferred. The thing was covered in dust and stuff and the fairings were pretty hammered. They also have PPF on them… unfortunately the PPF is like 12 years old and past the replacement time. The removal of the PPF has lifted the clear off on spots of the belly pan and nose fairing. So those will be off to the body shop to be refinished to better than OEM.

In the meantime, I am going to refresh all the fluids. Oil, coolant, fuel, clutch, front and rear brakes. I will most likely have the suspension serviced as well.

Kinda bummed I couldn’t just fire it up and ride other but I love a good project and will get #243 back to show quality. I’ll continue to post pics and updates here.

Congratulations! Just the type of bike I was hoping you'd end up with! So fuckin' jealous! By far the best bike ever made by any manufacturer and it's not even close IMO. 😍

While your in there, you could change out the endpieces for the GP7 for a more authentic GP experience ...

not sure the neighbors would care for you...

Dude bigtime congrats on that! Not sure how you scored a Desmo but totally looking forward to the restoration.

Nice score! Not sure what it sounds like, but I've always been a fan of the stock exhaust setup. Looks super trick.

Thanks! More pics to come :)
Congratulations dwnhillskater, she’s a rare beauty indeed !
When you say you’re going to bring her up to “show quality” will this be a rider or a show bike? Along those lines, are you going to mount the BSTs to allow for modern tire choice or are you sticking with the stock wheels?

I am just super anal about all my bikes, can't seem to just let them worn or dirty even if they are riders or a daily driver/rider... That being said, I am going to ride it, it is not going to waste away in a room like it has for the last 10 years.

Going to mount the BSTs after everything else is all dialed in. Waiting for the new Supercorsa V4 tires to come out.

Fantastic! I hope you’ll share your riding impressions after you’ve logged some miles.

Anyway, enjoy the journey with this special machine!
Congrats, saw that posted on the motoborgotaro IG earlier
Sub-freaking-scribed!!!!
Very awesome, looks great now can’t wait to see it cleaned and dialed in. One of the coolest bikes ever offered to the public.
I got the pleasure of riding one about 10 years ago and man I loved it!
Launches hard from a stand still with great feel from clutch and throttle!
Itll also warm the shit out of your ass😬😬

Couple of updates for the day. Finish peeling the PPF off all but the stock belly pan which is going to need to be refinished. Couple of fairings and carbon bits will head to Artistimo early next week to be fixed.

Flushed the coolant (need to pick up some new coolant at Ducati), changed the oil and filter, and flushed/bled the brakes and clutch. The fluids were in badddd shape now they are dialed!

Last, gave it a thorough wash and went through and reconditioned all the rubber and plastic bits.

Once the coolant goes it, I’ll refresh the fuel and give it the first start!

Gahhh thats pure sex!!! Love seeing all the engine detail which looks in really good condition. BTW, Jason has 2 of my Superlights. He's been incredibly busy so I had to wait a few months but as you already know, his work is well worth the wait.

Yea, he did some carbon refurb on my 998R. If you want, you can tell him to do my stuff first and your's after? 🤣

Even though it’s from nearly 10 years ago, one of the special bike moments I will always take with me. A bike shop was helping me out with my racing (down in in lil’ ol’ NZ). I went in one day, caught up with the parts guy who was a mate/focal point. He just says “Check out the back…”
I wander into the workshop to see a D16RR…..completely nude! Faaark, it might as well have been Heidi Klum up on the bike lift sans clothing, just a gorgeous thing. It was pretty special being up
close and personal with such an incredible bike.
