Spent 2 hours installing an oil cooler (my bike never had one, oddly) and the moment I hit the starter button BAM oil starts pissing out of one of the banjo fittings on the cylinder head line. Turns out the crimped part was split, I didn't even notice till it was shooting oil onto my floor at an alarming rate.

I sent a message to Mike from Gotham, where I got the line. He's always been A1 so I hope he stands behind it and sends me a replacement...

In the meantime, bikey no workey.

Well that puts paid to the theory that oil takes 90 seconds or more to reach the cylinder heads :)

Yep. More like 5 seconds... With a pre-primed oil cooler.

The 90 second idea came about when a Supermono mechanic left off part of the head and oil only started squirting after that amount of time.

Pisses me off because it was the last job on a laundry list of adjustments and mods I did all week and now I'm sidelined until I get another oil line. I was looking forward to going for a rip tomorrow to shake everything down.

+1... Exactly. Always try to keep things in perspective... you can always go riding the next day.

Don't know. I think the PO may have removed it. I've never encountered a 916 that didn't have one.

I do a lot of riding in city traffic so it's needed. I've been meaning to install one for 6 years.
