The slave cylinder on my 2002 S4 has started leaking. I know that the older type, pre 2000 can be overhauled. I have however never seen an overhaul kit for post 2000 models. Any one have any experience of overhauling post 2000 ones or is it just to buy a new one?

Jocke.

I took my 2000 slave to a brake and clutch place and got them to sleeve it with s/s. They didn't like the seal, said it was too small, they machined a bigger groove in the piston and put a car one on it. It's been fine for 17 years. I did the same to my 916 9 years ago, again no problems since.

Be aware if you go aftermarket they're a different size piston than standard to give easier pull but don't give the same throw. There's a thread i believe in the hall on doing the calculations for different brands.
