chain life also depends on environmental aspects, such as dust, rain, snow/salt, etc ... if you keep the chain adjusted properly, and how often you clean/lubricate the chain and sprockets.

Just keep the tension right and when it won't adjust properly, put on a new one. If it sits for a while check for kinks or the like but that's rare if you keep it clean and lubed.

Mine well lubed & on the loose side of specs yet kinked up, at least it didn't spit out the o-rings as others did. 15K miles, no rain, mud, just Az dirt road sand.

Yeah, I guess I've been in North GA too long, didn't think about the sand up there or further South and the salt up north. So revise what I said to include checking for kinking whenever you lube it :D
