I've been watching a set of wheels on ebay to do the 999 swap on my sport classic. The guy says they're forged and there's a sticker on them that also says "forged aluminum" but I've never seen this particular sticker on a set of marchesinis before. I think they're cast, but I'm wondering if ya'll can help me get to the bottom of it.

As a side note, he also says he ran them on his GT without changing the front calipers or spacing the rotors at all.

I have seen that design as cast, but could you get a close up of that sticker?

In any case, all forged ones (not necessarily Marchesini) have that stamped into it rather than a sticker as far as I know.

Having weighed both cast and forged 749/999 OEM wheels, I can state that there is not much difference between the them. If you want light wheels, buy aftermarket like OZ Piegas.
