Well, I know this is totally the wing place for this, but this seems to be the only area in which I have permission to post.

I see the rules about minimum post counts before being able to post classifieds, but is there some other, unwritten hurdle I need to clear before I can ask for help with my Ducati problem in the appropriate forum section?

You are correct. This is the only section you can post when you first join. The email you received when you registered says you must make a welcome post before gaining access to the rest of the site. Yay! You have now done that.
