As part of the ongoing parts collecting syndrome I have developed, I won a set of heads on eBay. As advertised, the heads are ported. The work looks cleanly done. The heads were sold as "complete" and in fact they are, including valves and cams installed.
I don't know the condition of the guides, seats and such, so I expect to be freshening them up. It occurs to me that if I had someone port out my 904 heads, I'd rebuild them with ST2 cams.
So my question is this: Whats my best shot at identifying the cams as ST2 (or early ie cams)? Is there a stamp, engraving, or otherwise identifying mark. Barring that I suppose I can measure the lift at the valve and check the specs against my SS manual.

Any clues?

I think you'll be safest to get the specs for both cams and measure them with micrometers or in a pinch, calipers.
