Eagerly awaiting my DT manual/book for my 2003 999. It has low miles (under 5000)... wondering what the cam belt interval was for replacement. Yes, I know every 2 years is advised... just want an idea of mileage milestones as well.

Thanks,

James

The spec is two years or 12,000 miles, which ever comes first. Opinions on when you should actualy do it vary as much as what oil you should use...... I use the spec.

The new bikes have a 7,500 mile interval service which would imply 15,000 for a belt change. And that's using basically the same belts on the same motor. All of mine will be out of warranty soon and I will be going at least 15,000 and pay no attention to time. All depends on what you can tolerate. My personal opinion is the belts with the red letters are top quality, Kevlar Gates items and safely capable of many more miles than what we're currently goin by.
