Got the rest of my 996 ready to go and was flushing the (dirty) fluid from my coolant lines. Decided to open the water pump and found this. Is there a product or some mixture I can flush the system with before adding distilled water and WW to it? Bike sat for 2 years.

I bought it but haven't used it yet; there are radiator flush systems/fluids at your local car supply store.

Thanks, does it have to be motorcycle-specific or will any flush work?

I think I'd pull the radiator and hoses to better flush out your system. Make sure you clean as much corossion out as you can, then reassemble and flush again at least once. Then fill with coolant and distilled water and check it on an annual basis. Good thinking to pull that cover as well!
