I am looking to replace the original coffin boxes with cylindrical reservoirs (mainly because I hate servicing the boxes). Is there something I can direct swap without further modification? Getting new lines would be ok, but I would like to keep it simple.

It’s a common swap to use Superbike reservoirs.

Isn’t the brake reservoirs om the SS’s with full Brembo Goldline brakesystem not the same as on the superbikes?

You would be fine swapping in any of the masters from a similar era Ducati, there are slight size differences in piston size so be aware of what you are buying but a set of masters from a 851/888, 916 series, monster with dual disc or ST series will all work. Keep the clutch master to 2000 and earlier and the brake to a 2-disc size non-radial pump and you will be fine. Lots to choose from.
